Q. Im trying to get down to 110 pounds, and I was wondering how many calories are in one boiled potato? Depending on size to. And what are good toppings? I don't like sour cream or yogurt on my potatoes but other low calorie (under 100) will be appreciated! Will choose best answer!
A. They make low calorie toppings for stuff like that. They have these popcorn flavorings, which can also be put on potatoes, vegetables, etc. I don't know specifically what brands your store has, but look around and they'll be in there. The brand I have is Kroger.
How many calories should I be eating and how many calories should i be burning from exercise?
Q. For my entire life I've been over weight and have tried to lose weight countless times but each and every time ended in a failed attempt. But I feel like this time it's actually going to lead to something. I've been going to the gym every week for two weeks now and actually look forward to going to the gym and think dieting is fun. But I'm not too sure if I'm burning the amount of calories I should be from exercise. I go to the gym 6-7 times a week and spend 50 minutes on the elliptical and then take a 30 minute walk home ( of course Im walking pretty slowly so i don't think that walk home is burning much of anything. ) I burn 650-700 calories just from the elliptical in that 50 minutes. I then try to consume 1500 calories a day by eating breakfast lunch and dinner. My breakfast is a pretty pathetic excuse for a breakfast but it includes of a Fiber One bar that's 90 calories. Just something to make it through the 6 hours of school and after school activities. When i get home I tend to eat 400-600 worth of " normal " and healthy food as well as for dinner. I'm currently 6 feet 3 inches weighing at 262. I was 268 two weeks ago.
Also how does sodium effect your diet? I know that increases your blood pressure and that's one of the reasons why I want to lose weight. I tend to eat maybe 1800 mg of sodium a day which is just under the recommended amount. Am I eating too much? If so how much sodium should I eat a day to lower blood pressure? Thanks guys! If you need any more information just ask and ill add an edit.

A. Unfortunately, there really is no magic answer to weight loss. There is no secret solution, no mystery. Simple things you do can help tremendously. Eat a healthy diet of about 1800 calories a day - you do need to learn to count calories to some degree, and there are tons of sites that will help you with that, as well as the labels on foods. Start keeping a record everyday of what you eat, because we all usually tend to consume more calories than we think we do. Eliminate ALL junk food, sodas, pop, sweets, fried foods, fast foods, fruit juices, and processed foods. Everyday eat fruit, veggies, a few nuts, lean meat and fish, whole grain breads and cereals, low fat dairy products. The many meal replacement products on the market can be a good tool to help you get started on a better eating plan. Use them in the first week or two if you like to replace one meal a day. Make sure you get one that has a good protein content. Special K makes a protein shake and the Glucerna shakes have higher protein content. Go for a brisk 45 minute walk twice a day if you can, everyday. Climb lots of stairs. Drink plenty of water. If at all possible start a weight lifting/strength training program at a gym and get some instruction from the gym trainer. It will work. Here are a few sites that may help.

How many calories do I need every day excluding the amount of calories I burn in exercise?
Q. I searched on Google, but all the calorie calculators I found asked about how much exercise I get. I am 5'3", I weigh 95 pounds, and I am 13 years old. I know how many calories I burn per day, so that is why I want to know how many calories I actually NEED to have to maintain my weight.
In the calories that I burn every day, I am including calories that I burn when I sit, stand, sleep, etc.

A. To maintain your weight, eat as many calories as you're burning per day. To gain weight, eat more calories (but the GOOD kind! No twinkies or junk food. ;-) )
