How to get through the induction phase of the South beach diet?

Q. I have such a hard time getting through the induction period? Any ideas on how to get through it?

A. The best thing I can recommend is to do your best and try to take your mind off of eating. Try to keep busy doing things you love and your mind will be elsewhere. Furthermore, don't think of how much you'd love to have some of the foods that are limited, but how great the foods you're permitted to have will taste. When you eat, really try to savor it.

Of course, this is all easier said than done but the key is keeping motivated. I liked to think of induction as less of a "diet" than it was trying to make my eating habits healthier. It's such a minor mental quirk, but it did help me lose some of the wanting what I couldn't have mentality...

How much exercise should I do during Phase I of the South Beach Diet?
Q. I am starting the South Beach Diet, and plan on exercising throughout to maximize my weight loss effort. However, I know that my body is going to feel very sluggish during the first 2 weeks as it is so adjusted to having an abundance of carbs. How critical is it to exercise during those first two weeks?

A. I worked out about 3 days a week walking the treadmill for about 30 minutes then I lifted weights just to tone my arms, I also did sit ups and played around with the leg presses after a month of this and faze1 of the South Beach I lost 20 pounds and I got to eat more food then I normally would. I had a baby a year ago so I have some pounds to shed my husband and I will be starting the diet again on Monday! Good Luck

I think you would be fine to wait until the next faze to go to the gym just make sure to stretch and do a little at home.

What are some good foods/recipes that are easy and really good for south beach diet?
Q. For Phase 1.
Remember, easy stuff that you dont need a TON of things to buy to make it, and something GOOD.
For breakfast, lunch and dinner.
THANKS.
